Welcome!

This is the old “About” page. I am keeping it “live” because other pages still link to it. To see the current “About” page, please click here or on the tab at top.

The RW&G Mission:

Established in 2008, Red, White & Grew™ (RW&G) promotes the victory garden revival and other simple, soulful, and earth-friendly endeavors as patriotic acts in an age of uncertainty.

Much like the pro-garden poster campaigns of WWI & WWII, RW&G uses New Media to spread interest in gardening.

Outreach & Social Media:

This award-winning, web-based initiative by writer  Pamela Price also strives to help the American public access information on the nascent “victory garden revival” and its leading proponents nationwide; educate them on the movement’s history and progress; and encourage us all to foster self-reliance through gardening and other earth-friendly endeavors. Note that most RW&G outreach is conducted via social media, especially Facebook and Twitter, where the conversation about victory gardening never stops! (For recent blog posts, please click here.)

It doesn't take a super hero--or a large garden--to make a difference in your community. Grow what you can, where you can!

Regional and National Press:

Since inception, RW&G has received press mentions on various independent websites, podcasts and blogs and in mainstream outlets such as Hobby Farm & Home, San Antonio Express-News, WOAI’s San Antonio Living, The Austin American StatesmanCountry Lifestyle magazine, CNN.com and on CNN’s Your Money. In 2010, the San Antonio Current ran a very thoughtful story summarizing the origins of RW&G and connecting Price’s work with local efforts here in South Central Texas.

The TEDx Talk:

On October 16, 2010, Price co-presented with Holly Hirshberg of The Dinner Garden at the premier TEDx San Antonio event. The topic? Gardening to fight hunger in America. (Watch the video below or on YouTube.)
