Not every Texas family grew a “victory garden” during WWI and WWII. That’s in large part because many rural residents were already growing plain ol’ vegetable gardens.
Whatever term was used to describe these gardens during war and peace, fresh veggies and fruits were an important part of a family’s nutrition.
As a native Texan, I’ve got my own stories about my family’s gardens during the first half of the twentieth century.
Now I’d really love to hear your family vegetable garden memories.
Kindly take a few minutes to jot down your memories in the comments section of this post.
