Santa, Retro: A Quirky Collection of Old-Fashioned Santas

Another shot from my visit to Fiddlin' Frogs in San Antonio.

Our son is old enough now that he’s beginning to have some, er, speculation about Santa.

Our response? What my late mother-in-law used to say:

“If you believe in Santa,

then he’ll believe in you.”

Which makes a heckuva lotta sense, if you think about it. It’s better than making a threat, right?

In my mother-in-law’s house, Santa always left sensible stuff like toothbrushes and other goodies in the stockings, so that little quip wouldn’t have worked for her.

On a lark last week I went searching for some retro Santas, all in keeping with the “Modern Life in the Spirit of the Victory Garden” theme here at RW&G. Here are some of the most intriguing images that I found:

Yep, Santa sold ciggies for awhile!

We’ll close out with a little vintage Eartha Kitt. Merry Christmas!
